The Yenching Academy offers a highly customizable and interdisciplinary Master’s program in China Studies for English speakers with varied levels of Chinese language competency. The program is designed to cultivate leaders who will advocate for global progress and cultural understanding. The scholarship includes funding for tuition fees, accommodation, transportation, a travel stipend, and a living stipend for 1-2 years.

Annual Number of Scholarships Awarded

  • ~120 per year
    • 20% Chinese students
    • 80% international students
      • ~30-35% from Europe
      • ~25-30% from the U.S. and Canada
      • ~30-35% from the rest of the world



Eligibility

  • Hold at least a bachelor's degree in any field by August 31st of the award year
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China
  • Demonstrated academic excellence
  • Record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement, social responsibility, and leadership potential
  • English proficiency
